Cancel domain

  1. I would like to cancel my domain but I cannot seem to have the option to do it in the manage purchases page. Is there another way?

The blog I need help with is tellytelldotcom.wordpress.com.

  2. Hello @rositani123,
Did you follow this guide to cancel your domain?

NOTE: You must be the admin of the account that has your domain in order to cancel it.

    Also read this:

If your domain is part of a plan, you will have to remove the plan before you can remove the domain. If your intention is to separate the plan and the domain, you’ll want to contact support.

    As stated here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/cancel-domain/

If you registered the domain via WordPress.COM you can cancel the domain and request a refund by following the support guide here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/

    NOTE:

    • Domain registrations can be canceled within 48 hours of registration.
    • Plans and other purchases can be canceled within 30 days of purchasing.

    re: Refunds

You will be refunded to the same payment method you used for your purchase. After processing, refunds usually take about a week to appear on your statement. For credit card refunds, it may take 5-7 business days to appear on your online bank account or in 1-2 billing statements.

All of these stated here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/refunds/

    Thanks! 🙂

  3. Hey, thank you for this. I did try following the guide however there is nothing showing in the purchases page. It is blanc and the only thing available is an upgrade button.

  4. @rositani123, can you provide the domain name that you are trying to cancel?

  5. You cannot cancel a free sub-domain.

You can change it, by following the instructions given here:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-blog-address/

However, if you change it you cannot use this address(https://tellytelldotcom.wordpress.com/), again. It is reserved and cannot be registered by anyone(not even by you). This is done to keep your blog/site from being impersonated by someone else.

So only change the address if you are sure, you are not gonna use the current address again.

If you don't want to loose this address you can create another site, under your current account by following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/create-a-blog/#adding-a-new-site-or-blog-to-an-existing-account, and then private the current site under your privacy settings.
