Cancelling Domain

  1. Hi WordPress,

    There is no "Cancel" button under My Upgrades and I want to cancel my domain as well as my wordpress account, please advise ASAP.

    The blog I need help with is

  2. provides a 30-day refund on all upgrades except Domain Registrations, Domain Renewals, and Guided Transfers.

    If you notify us within two days of purchase you may cancel a domain name purchased through and receive a full refund. After cancellation, there is no guarantee that the domain will become available to register somewhere else and you may not be able to get it back.

    Provided you are logged in under the same username account that purchased the upgrades, you can request a refund yourself directly from the Store section of your Dashboard

    Note: It takes from 1 - 2 weeks for the refund to be received.

  5. After you have done that, provided you are logged in under the Admin username account that registered the blog in question you can delete any blog registered under that username by using these instructions.

    After you do that if you cannot locate a verification email, look in your email client spam/junk mail filter for the email with the blog deletion verification link in it and click that link. If clicking it does not work then copy and paste the link into your upper browser bar and click.

    Deleted blog URLs are not recycled You may want to make the blog private instead.

    After you have deleted the blog read what follows please.

    Although username accounts are not deleted, so you cannot be impersonated and have your reputation affected by anyone registering the same username in the future, there are steps you can take that amount to removing all personal information and result in leaving only a throwaway email address behind.

    1. You can go to My Account->Edit Profile and remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This only leaves the username behind.

    2. To unsubscribe from email sent to you from, go here and click on “Block all subscription emails from”:!/following/subsettings/

    3. To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

    I don't need a refund, I've used the URL for months, but I just want to cancel the URL and my account entirely and there seems to be no option to do so.

    Staff can remove the domain mapping. Then you can proceed with the rest ie. deleting the blog and replacing the email address in the account.

    If you’ve registered your domain through and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers.

  13. This is why it's not a good idea to delete. If you'd said at the start you just wanted to use it on another website, we could have shown you how to do that easily. Now you may lose control of the domain altogether.

  14. I realise my mistake now, I really wasn't fully aware of my own options. Is there a way I can still use the domain?

  19. has been recovered. You don't need to re-pay, as your cancelation request was outside the refund period, so we weren't able to refund it when we canceled it.
