Hey, just wanted to know how to permanently erase my domain name ‘friendtorbay.com’. It was only ever intended as a temporary web body and I no longer have any use for it. I’m not looking for a refund, I merely want the site off the internet as the information on it is out of date.

The blog I need help with is friendtorbay.com.

You must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account in order to access the blog and cancel the domain. To cancel a domain you registered with WordPress.com, you ought to be able to log into your account, then go to Store → My Upgrades and use the “Cancel” link in the Subscription Status column. If it’s more than 2 days past the purchase date, you will not receive a refund, but the domain can still be canceled by Staff. I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.

    Hi there,

If you would like to hide your site so it cannot be viewed by visitors or search engines, you can use the following guide to make your site private: Privacy Settings

If you would like to cancel your domain name friendtorbay.com and completely give up ownership of the domain, please let me know and I can help you with that. Please note that once a domain is cancelled, there is no guarantee that you will be able to register it again in the future. If you prefer, you can transfer your domain to another web hosting service using this guide: Move your domain to another host

If your domain is cancelled, your site will still be available at its free WordPress.com address. You can leave the site set to private or permanently delete it using this guide: Delete Site

If you have any questions about this, please let me know!

Thanks for the responses guys; and yes Rachel ideally I’d just give up the name permanently. It’s named after a music festival I organized that isn’t ever going to happen again, so I don’t see myself ever needing it in future. Please get back to me ASAP so we can sort it out. :)

Thanks for confirming that for me. I removed the domain from your account, so you are now free to hide or delete the site.

If you want to permanently delete your site, please follow this guide: Delete Site

Please read the warnings and advice before deleting a site, as we can’t revert a site deletion for any reason.

If you want to hide your site instead, you can use the following guide to make it private: Privacy Settings

If you’d like additional help with any of these steps, just let me know. :)
