Cannot change size of blog title

I’m using ChaoticSoul theme and there are many things I cannot do. I hope someone can help:

    a) I cannot change the size of the blog title or the description (subtitle)
    b) Even if I follow the instructions to change the avatar (my picture), and upload a new one, the avatar doesn’t change
    c) When changing the theme image under the title, it no longer appears as one image but in two separated bits
    d) Cannot change the titles of the sections in the right column

In short, I cannot find a way to access the layout and make changes.

The blog I need help with is

We need the link of a WordPress.COM blog starting with http before anyone can even think about giving you accurate help.

The site linked to your name is a dead link that did not even point to a WordPress.COM blog.

    Thanks, this is the link:

Do you have the CSS upgrade? What you are wanting to do (with the exception of b) would require it.

    b) Is the gravatar that is showing here in the forums the correct one? Also, log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then take another look. Sometimes browsers will not update and hold onto cached versions tenaciously.

Thanks thesacrepath for pointing to CSS, I need to get into it to learn how to modify HTML. As for the gravatar… no way. I restarted Firefox, also tried Safari and Chrome, but no change happens. Maybe I’m doing something wrong. I need to learn more.

I see CSS upgrade is not free, so I might as well search another theme template that has a larger blog title

Yeah, doing a different theme is probably a good idea. Chaotic Soul is a complex theme to modify.

Go to your profile page and see if the new gravatar is showing there. If not, try uploading it again, or even go directly to when logged into wordpress and upload it there instead. There have been times in the past where the gravatar upload thing here has been broken.

Both my profile and show the new gravatar (the one you can see here) but even if I reload the blog several times or with different browsers, it still shows the old one. Maybe I’ll delete the old one and see what happens. Thanks.

Now, this is weird. I deleted the old gravatar “forever”, reloaded the blog page, and it still appears… Opened the blog with Safari, same thing. Well, thanks, I’ll try some other theme one of these days.

Gravatars are cached, and some browsers will hang onto them forever. Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart the browser and then have a look.

There are many black background themes. You can use the search utility and Feature Filters in your Dashboard > Appearance > Browse Themes > Feature Filters to locate themes of interest to you. (A-Z, Popular, Features)

Each theme has a thumbshot and a features summary description. You can browse and when you find one of interest you can click “Preview”. When you are ready to make your selection you can click “Activate”.

Many thanks for your time, timethief and thesacredpath… I’ll follow your advices

    You’re welcome from me.

Why on earth do you have your username linked to a dead geocities site instead of linking it to your blog here?

It’s easy to do. Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ and fill in the the complete URL for your blog starting with http:// and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

Note that there is a complete record of every post that you make to the forum on your forum profile page. Also note that when you mark a forum threads as “favorites” that you will find them listed on the forum profile page too. And everyone in the forum can access your forum profile by simply clicking on “Member” next to your username.

I didn’t even realise it. Maybe it happened when I created my WordPress blog long time ago, and then I haven’t been using it much because I also have the Blogspot blog. Thanks for the hint. I made the change: is it OK now?

I see that you have chosen the Greyzed theme and your blog looks fine to me. You mentioned you have a Blogger (blogspot) blog too. Just in case I want to be sure that you know if you create duplicate content blogs on blogpot and that’s not going to go over well with Google. See here >

Thanks again for the link, which I read with much interest. My WordPress blog has only some of the notes uploaded in my Blogger blog. Actually the reason why I am again trying to use the WordPress blog is because I want this one to carry content in English and leave Blogger with content in Spanish.

Timethief… may I abuse of your time? I cannot find my way to modify the left column layout, I want to add links, change the headings, etc

That column on the left is called your sidebar and you can add widgets to it or remove them from it here > Appearance > Widgets

This is the link to the main page in support documentation for widgets and sidebars. On it you will find links to description of individual widgets and instructions fro adding them to your sidebar.

Thanks again. The link is very useful.
