When I try to post a comment on scribblesandsnaps.com (or any other WordPress blog) with the email address “(email redacted)” I get a login form the following message:
“You are being asked to login because (email redacted) is used by an account you are not logged into now. By logging in you’ll post the following comment to Geotag Photos with Android Camera and digiKam:”
I don’t remember having ever signed up, but I may have. I do associate with the owner of that blog and it is possible that I have commented in the past. So I click “Lost your password?” and get a form asking for my email address. I enter “(email redacted)” and I get the following error:
“Unable to reset password
I’m sorry, but we weren’t able to find a user with that login information.”
So, if a user with that login information cannot be found, why is it bugging me to login when I try to post with that address?
The above paragraphs I entered exactly into the a href=”https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recovery”>account recovery form as linked to from the “Unable to reset password” page, and got this frustrating message:
“Your contact email is the same as your account – if you can receive emails you should try the password reset form instead.”
That’s right: an infinite loop.
