Cannot register an AVAILABLE domain

I wanted to register a domain and map it to my existing blog. The name would be gripdevices.it and it is available on the other domain registrars i checked (Go Daddy, for example), but WordPress. If i try to find gripdevices.it on the browser tab, nothing will show up.

Why can’t I register that domain name on WordPress? Is there a way to solve this issue and avoid me purchasing from other websites?

It would be more convenient, and faster, to do the same thing I already did for gripdevices.com.

Thank you in advance for your help

The blog I need help with is gripdevices.wordpress.com.

WordPress.COM only registers about 5 top level domain name extensions – and .it is not one of them – you can register your name with another registrar and map it to your blog here.

There are many other registrars other than Godaddy to choose from. Network Solutions and Name Cheap to name two.

So all I need to do is to register that domain with another registrar, without adding any content to it, and then pay for the mapping service on wordpress right? This will allow the wordpress blog to be redirected to the new domain. How about the new domain? Will it only show the wordpress blog pages? How about any form or email subscription in the wordpress blog? Will they keep on being sent to my default email address even if filled on the new domain?

I’m sorry for all those questions. It’s just that I found it very easy to do all on WordPress, and now I’m confused, even if I guess it should work in the same way.

Thank you so much for your help

    Correct.

How about the new domain? Will it only show the wordpress blog pages?

If you purchase more than one domain mapping on the same WordPress.com blog, then you can select one as the primary domain and all the other domains will automatically redirect to the primary one. The primary domain will show the WordPress.com blog pages just as they are now only using the updated domain name.

How about any form or email subscription in the wordpress blog?

Email subscriptions will be exactly the same if you map a new domain to a WordPress.com blog.

Will they keep on being sent to my default email address even if filled on the new domain?

    Yes.
