Can't find my saved drafts?

  1. I clicked on the link at the top of the page titled "new post" and spent a couple hours writing. After I was done i hit save draft and then preview and my home page just showed up without the post. So then i went to go find it in my "drafts" except it wasn't there. I couldn't find it anywhere, so i wrote a bunch of other test posts using the same steps and each time it would say "saving draft" and then I wouldn't be able to find it anywhere. 3 hours later i tried writing a post and saving the draft and this time i got a "draft saved" message a green check mark. I never got that before. It just would say "saving draft" and then the draft would disappear. I still can't find this post that i saved that took me hours to write. I can't bear to think it disappeared. It's not under posts or anywhere else. I can't find any of the test drafts that i saved either. Please help. I'm not going to bother writing anymore if there's a 50% chance of my post not saving when i try to save it. what's the point. My posts are at least 1000 words long each on average, I can't take that risk

  2. You may be able to recover an earlier post revision. Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post.

If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.

If you cannot locate the post for locating and restoring a post revision, and it's not in your Trash folder then you will not be able to recover it.

Did you create your post on the dashboard of your own blog?
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

Or did you create your post on the front page of!/post/

Create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog
Dashboard > Posts > All Posts > Add New

Or use an offline blog editor so you always have backups on your own computer
