I’ve tried several footnote plugins, I think I’m doing the shortcodes right. Usually its something like:
[note]can’t get footnotes to work[/note]. But nothing happens, no footnote is created.

The blog I need help with is genesisthelovestory.com.

    Hi there,

I see that your site, genesisthelovestory.com, is a self-hosted WordPress site.

This support forum is for the users having WordPress.com sites. WordPress is different from WordPress.com. Here is the difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/. For any support on self-hosted WordPress site, you can prefer looking at this support page: wordpress.com/support

    Hope this helps! :)

    Hi there,

I provided the wrong support page for self-hosted sites in my previous reply. The correct page is wordpress.org/support

    Hi vaidehisingh –

Thanks for helping us out here :) I’ve added the org tag to this thread since it is a WordPress.org support question. This helps us with tracking.

    Hello everyone,
If this isn’t the forum I’m supposed to be on then I’m confused as to why I cannot log into WordPress.org with my user id and pass but I can log into this forum / site? I can also access My Site from the upper left hand corner of this very page. Forgive me for asking but are you all sure that this is the incorrect forum for me to be on???

    Hello @jmagolino,

You need a WordPress.org ID to post on the WordPress.org support forums. You can create one with this link:

    @jmagolino

There are essentially three different “WordPress” logins, and none of them have anything to do with each other.

First, there is your site’s admin login. That login was created when you installed the WordPress software, and should have been emailed to you. Those credentials are stored directly in your site’s database on your hosting provider’s server, and are only valid for that one site.

Next there is your WordPress.com account login. This login is created when you register a WordPress.com account. It allows you to access this forum, any WordPress.com sites in your account, and any self-hosted sites you connected to your account via the Jetpack plugin, like you did with http://genesisthelovestory.com/ A WordPress.com login is required in order for you to have a site on WordPress.com or to use the Jetpack plugin, but it is not required in order for you to use the open source WordPress software.

Third there is a WordPress.org profile. Again, you don’t need to register such a profile in order to use the WordPress software, but you do need to register one in order to post in the WordPress.org forums which provide support for the open source WordPress software you’re using on your site, and also if you want to contribute to that software yourself at make.wordpress.org.

You can’t use a WordPress.com account to log into WordPress.com, and vice versa, and neither can be used to log into the admin account for your self-hosted site.
