Can't get post to post to other pages beside home

  1. I am trying to make a self help page but every time I try to post to it the post ends up on the home page.
    Blog url:

  2. ALL blog posts go on the blog page. If you want to separate certain posts out, you can make a Custom Menu and link to the category page. So categorize all those posts Self-Help and then link to the category page

  3. Ok so when you say link to a category page do you mean make a self help category then a page of the same as I have done and then check the box when I post that says self help? Or do you mean a actual link like the ones at the ends of our comments. I thought I did the first on already.

  4. Im also wondering why I don't have a plugin option on my dashboard. Is it because Im hosted here even though I have domain forwarding through another company? Or because I haven't up graded?

  5. Because truth fully making a page then a post with the category checked is not working.

  6. Pages are static and are for content that rarely changes. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will display on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.

If you choose a static front page then you have to create two pages as I said above. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and add the dynamic catgrories pages created by the software when we publish a post with categories assigned to it into the custom menu.

    Here’s a link to a custom menu walkthrough >

There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here >

  7. Im also wondering why I don't have a plugin option on my dashboard.

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs like the one linked to your username and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.

There is no upgrade you can purchase that will provide FTP access and the ability to upload any plugins. Please read > vs. The Differences

  8. Thanks that helped alot.
Is there any other feed back you can help me with?
I did the make 2 pages and make one static for my posts on the "recent news" page but I would like for it to give me the read more option for each post any info on that?

  9. Also just realized because of the Vs that I cannot offer a free ebook when people subscribe to Or is there a work around for this. Did some research and it looks like everyone is trying to use feedburner which leads back to all those plugin problems connected to
    Thanks again for your help.
