I have copied and pasted the information that technorati gives me into my stylesheet but it won’t save the info and nothing changes on my website. Help, what am I doing wrong. I am very new to css and am an old dog trying very hard to learn a new trick.

The blog I need help with is passionsandsoapboxes.com.

this code is not to be entered in the CSS, you have to enter it into the text widget or blog post.

Thank you so much, I never would have figured that out on my own. Technorati’s directions say to put it in your stylesheet. Works great, thanks again

You could use the delicio.us widget

Well I did use it to put my boomarks on my website but I am talking about putting a button on the site so that others can bookmark the site to their delicious account. Something similar to the technorati button. The directions say to paste the code into your hypertext but I must be doing it wrong….again. Any Ideas?

I’m using the “AddThis” button in my sidebar. That way visitors can post your blog to their favorite bookmarking service, not just delicio.us. http://support.wordpress.com/addthis/

If you are a PC user, you can also use GetSocial on your individual posts. http://hillelstoler.com/2009/02/26/getsocial-103/

We have a delicious widget already somewhere in the standard widget assortment, unless WP.com decided to get rid of it.

I just tried that in a text box but some of the code shows up above the button and the button doesn’t work. If I click on it the darn thing closes my tabs. God I have never felt so stupid, any other suggestions.

The delicious widget, now that I think of it, is to link to YOUR delicious account.

What code, exactly, are you using? Please paste it here between backticks, those little marks usually on the same key as the ~. So it’s backtick, all the code, backtick. That makes it display so we can analyze the code.

var addthis_pub=”insider53″ this is what shows up on my page along with the button which now works for some unknown reason. Is there anyway to get rid of the text but keep the button.

Button is shutting down my tabs again. Does it have anything to do with the java script being removed?

Ok I deleted the text that was showing up on the page from the widget and it still works intermitently and that will have to do for now unless some has another idea. Again thanks for taking the time to help. forums rock

The problem is, that’s a javascript widget code. It will never work here. You need an HTML-only widget, which is why everyone recommends GetSocial instead.

If you look at the code in the How To Add AddThis FAQ, you’ll see that it’s different code; you get that by changing the information in the drop-down menus on the page:

How would I install the get social button. The code doesn’t work in a text/html widget and you can’t use plug-ins on wordpress. Would I put it in the stylesheet?

you download the GetSocial application, then you would be able to either add an “AddThis” button or buttons from various social networking sites. It’s design to make it easier for wordpress.com users to add buttons on their blogs. And it isnt a plug in and the code is basic HTML and can be entered in the text widget or blog post.

Ok I am thoroughly confused and lost. I am on a Mac and I think getsocial is for windows. The page I saw definitely had a plug in which you can only use on wordpress.org. I tried pasting the code into a text/html widget but it won’t save. You guys have been very helpful but I will stick to the AddThis button for now.I am going to close this and say thank you again to everyone. great blogs by the way!
