Can't publish immediately

    There doesn’t seem to be any option to publish immediately with your “new improved editor”. There used to be a publish immediately option by default there. Can you please put that back?

    And no, my timezone isn’t set incorrectly. I know for a fact there was a publish immediately option before; it just disappeared sometime since my last post or shortly before my last post.

    the “Schedule” button changes to “Publish” only when I set the schedule to the current (or now-past) time. This seems like a step backwards for user experience — what was once a one-step publish button, is now replaced by an equivalent two (three if you count that you set hour and minutes separately in a schedule) step process just to “publish immediately”.

    Hello,

    Are you seeing this behavior when trying to publish from the dashboard as well as your wp-admin page? This symptom could be caused by a recent change or update. Just to be sure I checked a couple of my own blogs and didn’t have this issue.

    I suggest trying the following:

    1: Deactivate all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    2: Try switching to a default theme to rule out any theme specific issue.

    If this doesn’t work let me know and I will see if I can reproduce the issue to find the root cause.

    Hi. Thanks for looking into this.

    On the wp-admin page, if I use “Add New” under the “Posts” menu item in the sidebar, it’s fine. But if I use the “Write” button on the upper right from the wp-admin page and I get redirected to the new editor, the problem still occurs.

    I only have the default plugins activated, and I’m not able to deactivate any of them; I’m not sure I’m supposed to be able to since those are the default.

    I tried changing themes, to Apostrophe2 and to AltoFocus, but the problem remains.

    I notice that on the editor, after I’d typed the title and started typing in the body, the Publish button shows up, then maybe half a second or less later, it turns to a Schedule button. This occurs regardless of theme I use.

    Figured it out! It wasn’t the UTC settings on wordpress itself — it was my system time. For some reason syncing with time.windows.com (my PC’s default) was failing and my local time was off. I switched to time.nist.gov and when my PC had the correct time, the Publish button works now.
