Can't remove table of contents from top of pages AND Welcome page isn't 1st

  1. Can someone please give me some help? Here's how I want my first page to look -- except I don't want the list of contents across the top.

I have tried everything I can think of to get rid of that AND to put my Welcome page first -- no success. No matter which free Theme I use, this is what happens with the contents across the top.

Also when I go directly to my site, https://traditionsstringband.net/

The Welcome page is not what comes up. The various instructions I've gotten do not changes t hese things. Somebody sent something about a "static" page, and I could not understand the instructions they sent.

The blog I need help with is traditionsstringband.net.

  2. Hi,

I don't want the list of contents across the top...I have tried everything I can think of to get rid of that

    Which theme are you using?

That's the default pages menu. On some themes, especially older themes, all published pages will display in the default menu. The easiest way to hide the menu might be to create and activate a custom menu. You needn't have any items in the custom menu. See the Custom Menus support page.

The Welcome page is not what comes up.

The front page of https://traditionsstringband.net/ is set to display the latest posts. To display a static page on the front page instead, follow the instructions in the Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page) support page.

If those instructions are too confusing, then try the following step-by-step instructions:

    1. At My Site(s) > Personalize > Themes, click on the Customize button.
    2. At Customize > Static Front Page > Front page displays, choose "A static page," and then select the appropriate page from the drop-down menu.
    3. At the same location, select another page as your "posts page," from the other drop-down menu.
    4. Click the Save & Publish button.
