Are themes category limiting? Trying to add categories andddd they don’t show on the site. Tried both a child category and another parent, no luck with either. What am I missing?
The blog I need help with is tomas9701.wordpress.com.
Staff did something that eliminated the ability to designate child pages ie. Page hierarchy yesterday in Page attributes. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
Themes won’t limit what categories you can add to a post, but different themes may display categories differently on your site. What categories were you trying to add?
I’m learning my way around wp (been bldg html sites for years) and was just trying to add a catagory to see how it’s done. Adding a catagory or a sub-catagory never showed up on the site, they showed up on the dashboard. I’m try to find out what happened.
You must have at least one published post assigned to a category before the category will show in your sidebar.
Consider what would happen if the category widget showed a list of categories with no posts? Readers would be confused because they would keep seeing 404 not-found errors because there are no posts to find.
Thank you, I just figured that out. Like I said, I’m just getting started.
Also thanks to everyone who replied.
