categories as a front page

  1. It is the most frustrating thin ever. My blog does not look the same on the front page like when people click on my home button. The customer service just told me that it is not possible to have categories on the front page. Please enable the option to have categories as a front page as soon as possible. I am sure there are many other users with the same wish out there!

The blog I need help with is mattontour.com.

  2. Hi,

My blog does not look the same on the front page like when people click on my home button.

Your "Home" button does link to your front page, so I'm not sure what you mean.

I guess you mean that a dynamic category page can not be set as the front page. That's true.

I notice that the "My Blog" menu item of https://mattontour.com links to the "All" category page, the archives page of posts with the category "All" assigned to them. If that is where you intend to display all of your posts, then there's an easier whay to do that. When you assign a static page as your front page, you may assign another page as the posts page at the same place, Customize > Static Front Page. See the Optional -- Create a blog page section of the Set a Static “Home” Page (Front Page) support page.

  3. I am sorry I made a few changes since I posted my article so it was maybe a little misleading. I changed the front page now back as it was. The frontpage is now again: your latest posts. Now you see what I mean. My latest posts do not equal the Blog page. So basically what I want is My latest posts from the category "All". I cannot understand why this was not implemented. It seems so important to me. Especially for all bloggers who write in two languages or certain different categories of posts.

    Thanks for explaining.

I certainly agree it would be useful if the front page could be a category page. It also strikes me as odd that it can't be, since a blog page and a category page are essentially two types of archives page. However, there may be technical difficulties involved that I'm unaware of.
