Celsius- Odd Navigation on homepage post Photo Carousel

  1. In Chrome 36, when scrolling down the homepage, if one opens and exits a Photo Carousel, one is returned to the top of the homepage rather than remaining at the point on the homepage where the Gallery is located.

  2. Hi Jen!

I was able to replicate the issue and have reported it to our developers. I'll let you know when I hear any updates. Thanks for the heads up!

  3. Still an issue.

  4. Hi Jen,

Thanks for the update. The team is investigating this but doesn't have a solution for it yet — we'll let you know as soon as we have more information. :)

  5. You can add blogum to this query. Same behavior.

  6. I couldn't wait any longer and have finally switched my primary site to Celsius.

If infinite scroll is the reality, the devs will need to resolve this issue (hopefully sooner rather than later).

    Thanks!

  7. Could Staff please advise the status of this bug which was reported to devs in August?

This bug makes unusable any theme (so far Celsius and Blogum, but I suspect also Isola) that has infinite scroll and displays a Gallery on the posts page, via post format or otherwise.

  8. Hi Jen,

Our developers are still investigating the cause of this behavior and the best course of action. I'll check in with them again to see if I can get another update on their progress!

  9. OK, thanks.

  10. Hi Rachel, any kind of update would be appreciated.

It's a shame that this bug (Infinite Scroll + Photo Carousel) effectively renders these 3 themes useless. Any time someone clicks on a Gallery image linked to the Photo Carousel, regardless where they may be on the front page of the site, as the Carousel opens they are zoomed back to the most recent entry. Not a lot of fun for site visitors. I'd switch off the Photo Carousel, but, well, I'm rather fond of it.

FWIW - I say infinite scroll, but I just noticed that both an "Older Posts" button appears at the bottom of the first and subsequent load, and "Infinite scroll" is not checked in my reading settings. So at this point, WUWT?

  11. Rachel? Kathryn? Anyone?

  12. Sorry, Jen! The team hasn't made any more progress this, yet. I'm not sure what the timeline will be for investigating it but I'll keep an eye on it and let you know as I get news.

  13. OK. Since my site really is heavy on the Gallery feature, I decided to switch to Penscratch yesterday, although I do like Celsius' image display better.

Hoping the devs will come back with a solution to this problem at some point. Thanks.

  14. I hear you — I know it's frustrating to not have that work as expected, and I'll definitely let you know if the devs come up with a solution for Celsius (and other affected themes).

  15. Hi Jen, I know it's been a while, but I wanted to let you know that our theme developers just launched a solution for this issue with the image carousel in Isola and Celsius. Sorry for the wait!

  16. Thanks!

Seems Blogum still needs some dev love. :)

  17. Hi Jennifer, I'm not seeing the page jump to the top after exiting a carousel on the Blogum demo here:
    https://blogumdemo.wordpress.com/2011/07/20/fall-in-luxembourg/

I tested this in Firefox 35 and Chrome 40.

Do you have link to share where you're seeing that happening? Thanks!

  18. Hi Kathryn- Just updating Chrome, but in Version 39 here https://agallerydemo.wordpress.com/

  19. It's particularly painful when clicking on a Gallery directly from the front page; not so much when in single post view.

And not in the Gallery post format. :)

  20. Ah, it only happens on the blog page, but not the single post, I see it now. I'll report this and let you know when it's fixed. Thanks, JenT!

  21. Hi @kathrynwp- still hoping for news of a fix on Blogum. Thanks!

  22. Hi Jen, I don't have any news on the ticket but I'll keep you posted as soon as our devs have had a chance to work on it. Thanks for your patience.

  23. Hi Jen, I know it's been a while, but I just wanted to let you know that the issue in Blogum should be fixed now.

  24. Cool! Thanks. :)
