Centering Image Widgets?
Hi! I’m pretty new to this blogging thing. There’s a problem on my homepage – I can’t seem to center the .gif on my side bar. I’ve selected “center” justification but the picture stays in left justification. The entire .gif is in my most recent post. I’m only on wordpress.com so I’m not sure if I can even use the code solutions.
The blog I need help with is wangtan.wordpress.com.
This is what I see in your source code for the image at the top of your main page:
Switch to the HTML tab and change the “alignleft” to “aligncenter”.
I just inserted a couple images into my test blog with the theme you are using and selected “align center” in the insert image popup pane and the images came out centered as they should.
Oops, and I was talking about the image in your posts, not in the sidebar.
One problem (which has nothing to do with the image centering issue) is that the image is too wide for the sidebar. The sidebar has an overall width of 266px and your image is 427px. The image would need to be redone and resaved in a program for animated gifs at 266px wide and then you would upload and use that image.
Is it possible at all to shift the image in the side bar and have only the middle portion displayed, or does it have to be cut down to 266px wide?
Not really, especially with an image widget. You might be able to do something with a text widget and some creative, tricky inline CSS using a background declaration and top center positioning, but I don’t know how successful that would be.
Ok, I’ve cropped the image and it fits now. Thank you so much! :)
