change of admin e-mail contact address verification

    I am not sure if this is a glitch. I tried to change my contact e-mail address. It’s not really a big deal because my old addy forwards to my new one, but I thought I’d deal with this as I am switching over. I was sent a link to click on to verify my new address. I clicked on the link. The link brought me to the General Settings page where I originally changed my e-mail address. I saw my new address there with the statement that it was pending verification. All I could do was to click on Save, so I did. Now what? It does not seem to be “verified.” I have not been sent any further links. Is this a glitch? I am the admin and sole user.

    We have two separate email address settings at

    Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard.

    Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

    If in the Users – Personal Settings the new email is “pending” and in the Settings – General the new email address is shown with a message saying it needs confirmation. Try saving the change again. This time, instead of clicking the confirmation link, copy and paste it into your browser.


    Thanks! I did the one at “personal settings” just fine. I clicked on the link in my e-mail and this link brought me to a confirmation. But I am still having trouble with the first change of address I tried on settings/general. I use Google Chrome. The link redirects to the “settings” page. I also tried the same link with Firefox and it redirected me to the same screen. I tried changing my address to a different address I have, with intent of changing again, but each time I changed, the link I was sent redirected to that same screen. I’m going to restart my computer and then try the link with IE and see what happens.



    Hi, it seems to be a faulty link. I’m going to try the link on another computer, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll contact support and see if they can straighten out the matter. Thank you! I think you folks are great. Every time I have a problem, the response time has been lickety-split.



    Hi, I understand this thread has been flagged for staff attention….I just want to let you know that the problem is unchanged and the link still does not work. The problem seems to be with the link and not with my computer as the link does not work with other computers either. On the “settings” page, my address still shows up, but it states on this page that my address is “unconfirmed.” I need to confirm it but have no way of doing so. Thanks.



    Try saving the change again, then copy and paste the new link into your browser instead of clicking it.


    Same deal. It does not confirm my address. It still says my address needs to be confirmed. Is there any way you can send me a proper link? This link will not work on any computer. I have tried changing back to my old address and wordpress dot com does not send a proper link for any address I send.


    Okay, although the address was never officially confirmed, I logged out and logged in again, and now it no longer says my address needs confirmation, so I guess the problem just needed waiting out. Funny, this address has never been used before, so I guess it was just “one of those weird, weird cyberspace things.” Thanks, folks. I’m all set.
