    Hi, I would like to remove the site title from my site (I will place the site’s title within the header image) and shorten the height of my header image slightly. I have tried to manipulate and implement suggested css observed in other posts in this forum, but I cannot get everything the way I want it.

    I have customized a few things on my site already using css (yes, via the upgrade) therefore my stylesheet might seem messy, or even redundant at times, because it is.

    thehumblepalate.com is the url.

    I know this is probably easy, but I want to do it the right way and I hope I can learn something from your advice.

    Thanks!

    The blog I need help with is thehumblepalate.com.

    Oh, also…at one point I moved the menu buttons below the title and image. If I accomplish what I asked for above, then how can I move the menu buttons to the top right of the header image?

    Thanks!

    You can actually just remove the site title by going to Appearance -> Header and unchecking the box next to “Header Text: Show header text with your image.” It’s a theme option, so no CSS required. :)

    You can change the location of the navigation bar by using this code:

    #menu {
    top: 20px;
    }
    ul.menu {
    float: right;
    }

    Of course, you can change the number of pixels to get it in the right vertical location. The “menu” selector defines the vertical position, while the “ul.menu” selector aligns it to the right.

    Also, because I can’t help myself, I have to let you know that you might want to change the title of your about page to “Whose palate?” instead of “Who’s palate?” (Who’s is a contraction for “who is” and isn’t used as a possessive.) Sorry, I know it can be annoying to get unsolicited grammar lessons …

    That all worked wonderfully! And yes, thanks for the friendly grammar reminder. I do that sometimes…

    One last thing though…is it possible for me to reduce the height (and maybe the width) of the new header image I install? I simply think the image is too large.

    I haven’t ever played with header size, but you should be able to make it smaller with this code:

    #main-image {
    max-width: 960px;
    max-height: 260px;
    }

    Those values are the default ones for Chateau, so setting them smaller and uploading a similarly smaller header should work. I think. Changing the max-height property will move up the context below the header, so until you get a smaller header uploaded they will overlap, but I think it will work.
