Changing background colour on Dara theme

    Hi all,

    I’ve changed my blog to the Dara theme as I like the wide page layout. I’ve been trying to change the white background and black text without any luck. I think the white is quite harsh and I’d like to dull it down a bit.

    In the Colors & Backgrounds section of the menu I’m able to set a background colour, which really only adds a little coloured strip down either side of the screen, but the text still appears on a white ‘page’. Is it actually possible to change this option with this theme?

    Thanks in advance,
    Craig

    The blog I need help with is plainorpan.com.

    Hi there,

    I believe that to change the white background behind the text on your site, you would need to use custom CSS, which is an option when you are using the Premium or Business plans.

    If you are using one of these plans, you should see a ‘CSS’ option when you are in the theme customizer. By adding the following code to the CSS section and clicking ‘Save & Publish’, I think you should be able to change the white background to whatever color you like:

    .site-content, .attachment.page .site-content {
        background-color: #aaaaaa;
    }

    Note: the ‘#aaaaaa’ in this example will change the text background to gray. You can replace this hex code with the hex code of any color you like.

    Hello again,

    Just noticed that this slightly simpler code would change the background color behind the main content on the home page of your website without changing anything else:

    .site-content {
        background-color: #aaaaaa;
    }

    Sorry, to clarify, the above code would change the background color behind the main content on MOST of your sites pages and posts, without making additional changes you may not want to make :).

    @georginawh: That CSS has already been provided by @curiouszo. :)
