Changing color of links

    I am aware this is not a new topic but unfortunately after watching more than a dozen ‘how to’ videos I am still unable to change the colour of the hyperlinks in my blog posts.

    I would also like to change the colour of links when I hover over them.
    I believe my version of WordPress is 4.9

    My blog’s name is SCENIC WRITER’S SHACK and its URL is –

    https://goosefleshsite.wordpress.com/

    Thankyou.

    The blog I need help with is goosefleshsite.wordpress.com.

    Hey Glen,

    The reason why the color isn’t changing on links is that they’re using the same one as the regular links:

    a, a:visited, a:hover, a:focus, a:active, .entry-title a:hover {
        color: #566b0e;
    }

    You can change that by pasting the following CSS code in the Customizer->CSS area:

    a:hover {
     color: #your-color-code;
    }

    You can generate the color code using a website like this one:
    http://www.color-hex.com/

    Let me know how it went.

    Best wishes,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,

    Thanks for your reply.
    The problem is I can’t get to the file path that will lead me to find either “Customizer” or “CSS area”.

    The file path on my WordPress blog I’m taking is

    WP ADMIN
    DASHBOARD
    APPEARANCE
    CUSTOMIZE
    WIDGETS

    Unfortunately this is leading me no where.
    Still flailing I’m afraid.

    Hi Glen,

    In order to get the CSS area, first, you need to have a WordPress Premium or Business plan as described here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/

    Just to be sure, Is the website mentioned above, the one you need help with, right?

    Hi, @glenavailable,

    Login to WordPress account if you are not logged in then click here to locate the Customizer area or copy and paste the link below in a different tab.

    https://wordpress.com/customize/goosefleshsite.wordpress.com

    If you don’t see CSS on the left of the screen listed that means you’ll need to upgrade your account before you can change the colour of links when you hover over them.

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks Robert and Emmanuel.
    Since I’m operating presently from the free version of WordPress I now realise, thanks to the both of you, that what I was trying to do is not technically possible until I upgrade.

    At least now I can stop pulling my hair out!
    Thanks again fellas.
