Changing header height

  1. Hi, I'm using the Quentin theme for the time being, but would like to change to something that allows a custom header. I noticed most WordPress themes limit the height of their headers. Can that be changed?

Also, is there a theme similar to Quentin? I like the look and colors. If nnot, I'll try to find something else.

Thanks in advance and happy holidays!
    DJ Aida

  2. The header height can be changed with the paid CSS upgrade, but it is not recommended for those that do not have CSS editing experience as there is no official support for it.

As far as themes go, all I can suggest is looking through the themes listed under presentation > themes as those are the only ones we have. There are several "skins" that have been done by some of the CSS guru's for the Sandbox theme that can be added via the CSS upgrade.

  3. I'm posting a Sandbox designs link that will be of interest as all of these "skins" are available to those who have the css upgrade.

This is an in-progress list of design templates, ordered by Sandbox Version. Designs for are listed seperately with the -wpcom suffix. Templates that include the sandbox code are listed as "Standalone", as they do not require Sandbox to be installed.
I'm also including the link for the Sandbox live previews

  4. Thank you very much for your fast replies.

I don't plan to upgrade, since I don't spend that much time on line to justify that expense. Also, I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to css, so I guess I'll leave this theme for the time being. Once I have some more free time on my hands, I'll try to find a theme I like enough, with a custom header which I can change into something I made myself.

    All the best,
    DJ Aida

  5. There are many "of the rack" themes (no css upgrade required) found here -> Presntation -> Themes that do allow for custom headers of your own creation. The themes and header sizes are found here

Thanks for saying thanks. You're welcome and happy blogging. :)
P.S. The option for marking this thread "resolved" is found in your original post.

  6. Hi, I just wanted to let you know I marked the post "resolved" and leave a link to my blog, in case you feel like checking out how it turned out. It's

  7. Wow. It looks great!

  8. I agree with katm. You're blog looks great. Thanks for returning and showing us how your custom header worked out. :)

  9. You're welcome! I'm hoping I'll find some time to actually start posting, and give a explanation on who the Mag7 are for those who don't know (gasp! are there such people arround? ;) )

I also want to use this blog to spread the word about breast cancer, especially since my mom's a survivor, so if you don't mind checking in every once in a while, I plan to provide a link to a site that fund free mammograms by clicking on a link. I visit it whenever I can.

    Much obliged!

Btw, how did you get your name into a link in your posts? When I hover over it, it shows me your url. This is probably not an appropriate place for this question, so if you can, point me to the right direction.

  10. You go to your Dashboard, then your Profile (top right-hand side) and put your blog name under "Website" and then your name is a link.

  11. On this page, top right, click 'My profile' and then edit. :)

  12. Thanks, it works! On to scouring the forums for answers to some other questions.
