Changing Host - PLEASE HELP

  1. Okay, I really hope someone can help me because I am very much in need. I'll get right into it; First, I bought a domain through (as you can see it is without any ".wordpress") for $17. Soon after buying the name I began reading about the differences between and I quickly realized is what I had originally wanted.
Next, I went to a hosting website, ( to attempt to start fresh and give a shot. However, I wanted to keep the same domain name. I called hostmonster and they informed me that my name server is indeed pointing to I was then told to contact wordpress and ask if my name server could be directed to and Overall, I bought a domain name but now I want to change my host. How can I do this?

Any and all comments with be greatly appreciated.

  2. If you’ve registered your domain through and now want it to point to a blog or website hosted elsewhere then you can do this by updating the nameservers. Follow the Update Nameservers instructions here. >

  3. I'm in the same boat as bridgethegap, except I'm trying to transfer to justhost instead of hostmonster. I've updated the nameservers for my website, but does that mean I still have a account, and am thus being charged the $17/year for it? In the link that you provided, it says that you must wait 60 days after the purchase in order to transfer the domain name to another host...

"Note: You may not transfer a domain name for 60 days after its purchase, renewal, nameserver change, or any contact information change. It is a rule set by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) and standard across all registrars.

You should only transfer a domain if you want to completely move the ownership of the domain from to another registrar. [*This is what I'd like to do*] Note that you can often just update the nameservers instead if you don’t want to do a full transfer."
