Changing layout of posts

  1. Hi,

My page is set to display my latest posts rather than a static front page. However it shows the whole post rather than just the title and a small section. It means that you have to scroll through the whole post to see the others. Also, when it is on a mobile device the tabs at the side disappear so you cannot access any other posts by clicking on them. On a mobile, this means you have to just keep scrolling to see all the posts.

How can I change it so it doesn't display the whole post? And for a mobile, how can I keep the side bar on the right ?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is sevenbysarah.me.

  2. Hi there!

However it shows the whole post rather than just the title and a small section. It means that you have to scroll through the whole post to see the others.

You can insert a "more" tag to break up your posts and create a "read more" link on your main posts page. The option of inserting the tag can be found in your editor's toolbar, as shown in the following documentation:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/

In addition, you have the option of creating your own custom excerpts:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/excerpts/

Also, when it is on a mobile device the tabs at the side disappear so you cannot access any other posts by clicking on them. On a mobile, this means you have to just keep scrolling to see all the posts.

The sidebar is moved to the very bottom of your page on mobile in order for its content to remain readable on the smaller screen. There isn't a built in way to move the positioning about but if you split your posts up using the more tag or custom excerpts then visitors will be able to get to the footer with less scrolling on mobile.

Let me know if that information's helpful or if you have any extra questions.
