Changing My Blog Name

I want to change my blog name to something more simple, but WordPress says the simpler name is ‘reserved’ and I can’t have it. However when I visit the site with that simpler name, WordPress says ‘The authors have deleted this site’.

If a site is deleted, isn’t the name now available? If not, can I ask the owner of the name to release it?

The blog I need help with is getthesaveblog.wordpress.com.

When we register a username account the matching blog URL is reserved for our future use. It cannot be obtained by anyone other than the person who has registered the matching username account.

‘The authors have deleted this site’.

Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made except for the one stated here http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.
