I just changed my theme from Traction to Bold News and am encountering difficulty transfering my multiple catagories and posts from my previous theme to the new theme Bold News. How do I go about transferring the individual catagories to the top header bar versus where they are currently which is along the side bar.
The blog I need help with is beerambassador.net.
If you are referring to CSS editing you have done please read on. CSS is theme specific. If you have custom CSS and later change themes, you need to delete whatever CSS you have in the Editor, otherwise, you’ll get undesired results.
To ‘reset’ a theme, you need to delete the CSS in the Editor, make sure the “add to existing CSS” radio button is checked, then save. Things should go back to normal.
Also note that both of those themes a premium themes and we Volunteers don’t have access to them. Read-access to the premium themes forum is now open to all users so you can search to see if your question has been previously asked and answered there. The premium theme forums are at http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/ with separate sections for each theme.
If you are not successful when searching then there is a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum for your theme under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but do note that the premium theme must be active and you must be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it and post to it.
It wasn’t anything custom CSS. The Catagories were all created in Traction using that themes regular options. I am not Custom CSS savvy so I did nothing with that in Traction. I can see the catagories I created located in the sidebar Topics of Passion on Bold News. What I’d like to do is move those catagories back to the top header where all I have right now is my Kristyn Lier (About) link.
Do I need to import my “posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from a WordPress export file” which is an option under Tools under Import.
A premium theme purchase applies only to one blog so why would you need to import content?
I am not at all sure that theme works that way. Some of these new themes are pretty tricky.
It is, however, a premium theme and I believe those come with staff support, so I will flag this for them.
Meantime here are the posts about that theme http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/bold-news
In this case, I recommend contacting the developer directly for help: http://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/bold-news
For future reference, there will be a link for the specific Premium Theme support forum under Appearance -> Themes in your blog’s Dashboard, but the theme needs to be active and you need to be signed in as the user who purchased it in order to see it.
