Clarity of photos posted on a blog; crystal clear on iPhone, blurry on blog.
The photos on my iPhone that I want to put in my media library are crystal clear. I put them on my computer, and then add them to my media library. They’re blurry. Why? Is it the image size (small, medium , large) that I need to correctly choose? If so, which size works best? Also, is there a way to put my iPhone pictures directly onto WordPress? That would be a dream, and eliminate the middle step of putting them on my computer. I don’t need the photos on my computer. Help!
The blog I need help with is jenniefitzkee.com.
If you’re enlarging the photo when you move it from your phone to your blog, that would blur it.
If your photos are stored in the cloud or something like Dropbox, you could download them directly into your blog. Or you could import directly from you phone if you connect it with a USB cable.
I notice the size in which you display the images on your most recent posts are much smaller than the uploaded size. If you use the WordPress.com editor to resize images that could decrease their quality, as the editor wasn’t specifically designed to work with images. Rather resize your images to the size you want to use them before uploading it.
You should be able to upload images to the blog if you use the browser interface on your iPhone. The iOS app also allows uploading of images: https://apps.wordpress.org/support/#faq-ios-gs8
That said, your images don’t seem particularly blurry to me, so it could also be a display issue on your computer.
I have WordPress on my iPhone, but when I go to my photos it doesn’t give me a choice to share them with WordPress. It only offers emailing, Facebook, etc. What am I doing wrong? Also, when I put photos onto my computer, my iPhone asks me what size, small, medium or large. I think I selected medium. Was that my mistake? I really appreciate the help, as technology is not my strength!

You’ll need to open the iOS app or go to your dashboard on the WordPress.com website and upload the photos from there. In other words, not by selecting the sharing options in your iPhone image gallery. You have to fetch the images from the blog, you can’t send them there.

I’m afraid I have no experience with iPhones, or any Apple product for that matter. With my Android phone I just copy the jpeg files directly from the phone’s memory to my hard drive and then edit and resize them on my computer before uploading them to my blog. I don’t know if there’s an equivalent method on an iPhone, though.
