I am not sure if this is just due to the theme I chose or a setting I have set, but I have one blog http://iigs.wordpress.com where comments show only the the number of commments available.
I’d like to have the comments actually display on the page so the “conversation” happens immediately. Is there a setting I need to change, or do I need to change to a different theme? If I need to change themes, is there a way to know which ones display the comments?
The blog I need help with is iigs.wordpress.com.
The front page display on our blogs features “collasped” comments. This is normal bahavior for blogs and cannot be changed. If comments were not collasped on the front page then on many blogs where many comments are recived the front pages would be a mile long and we all know that visitors hate scrolling.
By clicking the title on any post or clicking the comments link your visitors can view the post on it’s own page and there the comments will be expanded and will display in a long column.
Thanks, @timethief, for this very helpful and clear answer. It would be great if this explanation were included somewhere in the directions that are accessed thru the Dashboard help. It took quite a while for me to find this explanation; this kind of thing may be why there are “thumbs down” on many of the directions given…
Thanks so much! I’ve also spent a lot of time looking for this Q&A. It would be great if it was a included in standard comments info.
