Comments ending up in the spam filter

  1. Hi,
A blog friend of mine has a problem.
All her comments at other people's blogs ( (for instance my own) suddenly end up in the spam filter.

How come? And how does she put an end to it?

  2. She gets you to mark her comments not spam. YOu'll have to search for her email or username in your spam folder and mark it Not Spam and then Approve it. You will probably have to do this a few times, but Akismet does learn.

  3. @raincoaster - thanks for your reply.

I have done that (approved her comments) - but what I don't understand is that this person has been commenting my blog for years!!! But as of yesterday or the day before yesterday, she is suddenly considered as spam not only in my blog but in quite a few others - but not all.

    I just don't get it.

But I'm glad to hear that Akismet does learn! ;-)

  4. Every now and again spammers start getting through and Akismet tightens things up. Then good people get caught too. It especially happens if they happen to put a lot of links in a comment.

  5. @raincoaster. Ok, I understand.
I hope Akismet learns quickly that she's not a spammer. :-)

  6. gmail, yahoo, hotmail and msn email addresses also always get a much closer look I suspect since the bulk of spammers use email addresses on those services.

  7. @thesacredpath; She has a gmail address. But so do I, and I'm not in the spamfilters... (yet?)
    Thanks for your reply.

  8. This happened to me not too long ago... have your friend contact Akismet and they'll figure it out for you. It took less than two days for them to fix me up.

  9. @feartheseeds - I'll do that. Thanks!
