Comments only showing in a bubble
I’d like to see any comments appearing directly at the bottom of each post, and for them to be threaded just as they are in the examples on the Support pages. But all I can manage is to have a little speech bubble appearing at the top of the post with the number of comments in it.
I’ve (think I’ve) set all the options correctly as shown on the Support pages, but I’ve had no luck.
Am I doing something more fundamentally wrong? I’ve never seen the speech bubble-type indicator before on any other blog. Is this possibly an issue with the theme I’ve chosen (Twenty Eleven)?
Any help would be massively appreciated!
The blog I need help with is earlyinitiative.wordpress.com.

The comments do appear below each post when the blog title or comment bubble are clicked and the posts are displayed on their own pages. Unless you switch and use the P2 theme which is a Twitter-like theme, The front pages of our blogs showcase content and comments are collapsed on that page and you cannot change this. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. In a new blog one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog if the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat and page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.

You set up threaded ie nested comments on this page > Settings > Discussion
Thanks, timethief, for your very swift (almost instant) response! You’ve explained it very well, and I now understand that it’s actually working correctly. Many thanks for clarifying this for me.
You’re welcome and best wishes for happy blogging. :)
