Controlling the order of links in the blog roll

I’m frustrated. I searched the Support site and the forums. I found some similar questions in the forums to mine regarding controlling the order of the links in my blog roll, but the topic was closed before anyone had provided an answer.

I’ve played with the order by name and rating, and the filter, and nothing seems to work. Does anyone know how to put links in a particular order?

I don’t want to use a text box, because I like being able to view another blog and then add to blog roll function.

The blog I need help with is

I’m not sure what order you want your links to appear in, but the default for the themes I’ve used is alphabetic. Otherwise, it seems the only option is the “write your own in a text widget”, which of course makes it more difficult to add with the “add to blogroll” function.

The “add to blogroll” function really is nice, but not very easy to use if your blogroll (Links) have categories. You still have to go back to edit the added link to get it into the category you want it to appear under in your sidebar.

I agree that it would be nice if the blogroll/links widget was a bit more configurable to allow for more refined sorting.

I’ve got a suggestion that worked for my sidebar. (I have a lot of links, nearly 75 in total on my sidebar that I wanted to add, and will want to add more in the future.)

What I suggest you do is that since everything is done in alphabetical order, you create A Section (whatever link group you want), B Section (whatever group you want) C Section, and so on.

My blog is or Evil Cowtown Inc if you want to see what I did. It’s working exactly like I wanted.

I take that back. I have more than 90 links. So, definitely creating a way to come up with Sections was very necessary.
