Could you please remove an old Forum Post please?
A while back I posted a question in the forum. No one answered, and I since resolved the problem myself.
However, I choose to make my site not visible from searches etc, but I keep on getting hits from countries (spammers?) I have no contact with. So I think they are coming via the post below and possibly google referring to that post. I have made sure google doesn’t crawl my site now using your settings. But the 1st thing that comes up in google when I search, is that post.
In the post below, it shows my site details. I would be very grateful if you could remove the post (not my website tho!). Then I can contact google to remove it from their cache (and the remaining few posts from when I allowed them to crawl my site).
Thanks in advance and much appreciated!

When NOT to use the URL removal tool
The URL removal tool is intended for pages that urgently need to be removed—for example, if they contain confidential data that was accidentally exposed. http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1269119
…and just realised now that the creation of this post links to my site via the avatar image :(
So perhaps an admin could delete this post as well, then perhaps email me to say its been done? (or I could just check in a few days to see if this and the other forum post have disappeared :)
The site linked to your username is set to “public” http://davidbcullen.wordpress.com/ To change that setting to “private” see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
Note that Staff do not remove links from threads here except in very extreme cases ie. privacy issues. Removing entire threads is rarely done. If that were not the case, then Staff would spend every day doing nothing but deleting threads from these public forums. Moreover, whatever answers were provided in deleted threads would not be available to the community as a resource.

You have a travel site – even if you change visibility there will be a while for Google to clear the cache – you should be getting visits from all over the world – that is the way things work – everyone gets spam – where some of it comes from or how the address is passed around is anybody’s guess – but addresses are stored by spammers and they go straight to a post or picture – do not pass go do not collect $ 200– I doubt the visits have anything to do with anything in the forum –
I help in the forum a lot and have something over 12,000 links from the forum to my site and I get maybe one referral a day on average from the forum – your single post or two here is not significant
Hi, thanks for the very quick answer!
I’d still like to leave my site as public so I don’t have to define who has access. But what id ideally like to do is remove these 2 forum posts from a search – and the easiest way I see is to delete them.
I understand that by remaining public, other users can see my site. But what im hoping to achieve is to not advertise I have a site via a web search (and these 2 forum posts means my details still come up via a web search).
So with my website I have set it to stop search engine crawlers, but I assume I cant do the same with these 2 forum posts.
Thanks for the website link for google too. In that case, if the 2 forum posts can be removed from here, ill just hope over time that google will filter them out naturally once it discovers the 2 forum posts don’t exist :)
Just caught up on the resent posts. Thank you both for replying. I guess ill just live with random country views :)
…and thanks for the heads up that its probably not coming from my forum posts
I understood from the outset what you were asking and I provide the correct answer. Briefly stated what you requested is not going to happen. I then tagged the thread for Staff to break that news to you.
