Creating a new site with old site still published
Bare with me, I am new to this! I have a site which I made using Rapid Weaver hosted by 1&1. I would like to move to Word Press, I installed it on my 1&1 control panel and made a work in progress page, however I would like to be able to create a new webpage without getting rid of the current one until the new ones is ready. So I have since un-installed word press and reverted back to my old page.
Can someone tell me how I can develop my page on wordpress whilst my current page stays live?
The blog I need help with is clairecooks.com.
It looks like you are working with a self-hosted WordPress.org site instead of the WordPress.com-hosted version supported here.

With that being said, I personally do this by creating a subdomain, building the new site, then moving the new site to the primary domain once it’s ready. You could also check with 1&1 to see if they have any recommendations for this.
If you still have questions, I would recommend searching on the WordPress.org support forums for an answer to this, as someone has likely had a similar question. If you cannot find anything that works, you can start your own thread. The forums are completely separate from each other, so you will need to register an account there if you haven’t done so already.
I hope this helps!
Thanks, told you I was a novice!! I did speak to 1&1 not very helpful ,weekend not very technical staff I guess?
OK i will look into creating a subdomain,
You’re welcome! Some hosting providers have a “staging” area where you can try stuff out, but others do not. The subdomain should work regardless.
