Creating a new static page in Bueno & custom background

Hi- On my website on the Blog page, I am able to add new posts without adding new pages. I would like to do the same for a new page I added call Previous Work which are work samples. I would like be able to add work samples the same way I do on the Blog page. I have had no luck doing so and have resorted to adding samples one under another in one post. Is what I would like to do possible/ If not, is there a work around so I can add past work examples?

And, what are the dimensions for a custom background in Bueno? I have a graphic designer who came up with a cool background. Am I stuck with the default background in different colors?

    Thank you so much!

The blog I need help with is

Creating a new static page in Bueno

Creating static page is the same in any blog no matter what the theme is. Pages are static. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will show on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

    What’s critical is:
    (1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts >
    (2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and add the categories into the custom menu.

If you do not want all the posts to show on the main page, then you can create a static front page for your site. If you wish, you can also create a “blog” page, but you do not have to if you do not want to.

    Choice 1 static front page.
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front page.

Which do you choose? It’s one or the other.

If you choose Choice 1 static front page then you have to create two pages. One for the static front page which you can call anything you choose example “Welcome”, and one for the blog posts to appear on which you can call anything you choose example “Blog”. Adter your do that you go here . Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

There are no background dimensions provided on the theme description for Bueno. The header dimensions are provided. The header image is 930 by 198.

The best approach is to optimize the image and presize it prior to uploading it as when the cropper comes into play image quality is lost. It should be no larger than 150k in file size or it will take forever for your site to load for people on slower internet connections and you run the risk of them clicking out. The header image can give you some idea of how big you want the image to be > Apearance > Background

    Thank you.

    You’re welcome. :)

one more question. If I changed the location of posts to show up on my Work Samples page until I loaded all my samples, then changed the posts to show up back on the Blog post page, will the newly added work stay on the Work samples page once I switched it back to the Blog page or will they all move to the Blog page?

You can only designate one page here > Settings > Reading to display all posts on it at any given point in time. If the Blog page is what you have set to display all posts on it, then it’s the Blog page that will display all posts on it.
