CSS editing Oxygen theme

    Totally new to CSS…

    What I am trying to achieve:

    – remove dates from the featured slider
    – remove ‘recent articles and more articles’ from front page
    – remove the need for a widget where I have the calendar (if I remove the calendar oxygen replaces it with another widget!
    – be able to make the pages two columns (apart from front page ‘showcase theme’)

    Can anyone help???!!!

    The blog I need help with is gd-designerstyle.com.

    I see no date on your slider on the home page.

    Recent/more articles:

    .home .recent-articles, .home .more-articles {
    display: none;

    Right sidebar:

    .home #tertiary {
        display: none;

    What do you mean two-column? With a sidebar? With two columns of text for the content?

    yes I just wanted the black menu to be on each page of the site…

    re: the dates: it has July 30 2012 on each big photo on the slider

    I’m not seeing the dates on the slider on the front page in Safari or in Firefox. Are you talking about the front page?

    For the menu, open each page in the editor and from the page template pulldown in the attributes module, select “default” instead of full-width.

    yes on the front page, they are under the words on the big photos… I am using Safari…

    I have found this advice on another forum page:

    Remove the following code from ‘featured-content.php’

    <?php echo apply_atomic_shortcode( ‘byline’, ‘<div class=”byline”>’ . __( ‘[entry-published]’, ‘oxygen’ ) . ‘</div>’ ); ?>

    but I don’t know where to find the code or how to delete it, should I try this? can you advise?

    That would be for a self-hosted site. I’m not seeing the dates.

    What is the URL of the site you are talking about?

    http://www.gd-designerstyle.com is my site,

    I don’t know the site that was given the above advice, they didn’t give a URL when they asked the question.

    Very strange you can’t see the dates!

    Since I can’t see the dates, give this a try (educated guess).

    `.featured-post .entry-meta {
    display: none;

    oops, forgot a code tag. Use this.

    .featured-post .entry-meta {
    display: none;

    it worked!! thanks so much :)

    I have also learnt loads from you from other questions asked on these forums so thanks for all that too!!!

    And to get rid of the right sidebar on the pages, remove the .home #tertiary stuff I gave before and add this instead.

    #tertiary {
    display: none;
    .page #content {
    margin-right: 0;

    You are welcome.

    I also use Oxygen as a theme, and have a broad picture in the head of the page – and now I want to credit the photographer with a byline.

    Does anyone know how to get a byline (hoover over-text or anything) to the picture chosen as top head picture?

    Thanks in advance!

    And, while we’re at it – is there a ready made widget-button for LInkedIn to be had to a Oxygen-theme, by any chance? Looks better than merely linking in to my LinkedIn-account.

    Thanks again in advance… : )

    You will need to start a new thread with these questions.

    I apologize for my ignorance here, but I thought if I upgraded to premium, I’d be able to edit the CSS as you are noting above.I’m trying to locate the code to change that you suggested, but I’m just not finding it. Can you help me please?

    I am on a MacBook Pro and using Safari. When I inspected the element (right sidebar) I found what you mentioned and was able to delete it there, but not permanently.

    I am trying to remove the page title on the home page. I do not want it to say “Home” at the top of the page.

    Hello, I would like to remove titles from the slider on the front page, theme oxygen. I see here above the code to get rid of the dates, but the titles ? Can i also remove the small pictures under the slider ? Thanks
