CSS & Headers (iTheme2)

    Can anyone give me a quick hand.
    I have just switched over to the iTheme2 theme, which had a massive header area that I wanted to shrink,
    I appear to have got that bit right with CSS, reducing the header area to 987×100, with this:

    #masthead > a {
    display: block;
    width: 978px;
    height: 100px;

    But my dashboard will still only accept header images of the original size (978×288) and wants me to crop anything else in the wrong ratio.
    So can I directly insert the header via CSS?
    I’ve uploaded the image, (The URL is: http://electronicrumors.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/wordpressbanner2013x1.png ), and the image is exactly 978×100.
    I’ve tried a couple of things I found but nothing seems to work.
    Thanks for any help you can give.

    The blog I need help with is electronicrumors.com.

    I had a crack with this:

    #custom-header-image {
    display: none !important;

    hgroup {
    background: url(“http://electronicrumors.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/wordpressbanner2013x1.png”);
    width: 978px;
    height: 100px;

    But despite coming up fine in a CSS validatior, trying to input it gives me “Expected RBRACE at line 6” (the line beginning ‘background’)

    OK, still need a little help.
    I fixed it, or at least got the image in, and shortened to header (after screwing up the menus position with this:

    #masthead {
    display: block;
    width: 978px;
    height: 100px;
    background: url(‘http://electronicrumors.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/wordpressbanner2013x1.png’) top right no-repeat;
    padding-top: 100px;

    But now, as you can see, there’s a massive chunk of blank in-between the menu bar and the slider.
    I’m sure someones got some padding that can be adjusted somewhere, but I’ve been looking through the page CSS and can’t seem to find anything relevant.
    Any thoughts?

    I think I’ve done it.
    I don;t know why, but getting rid of the species height, the “height: 100px;” line (which oddly, was the thing I wanted to do in the first place LOL) seems to have evens things out!
    Which means this whole thread is me taking to myself.
    So you can go ahead and close it.

    Well, you and yourself accomplished what you set out to do, so you both should have a beer, or your favorite beverage, in celebration.
