CSS just stoped working!!

    hello,

    i had made a lot of changes using CSS to this page of my blog:

    http://en.davidfernandez.org/ecce-cello/

    i had made disappear almost everything: the menu bar, the title, the secondary widgets, the space between the picture and the beginning of th browser…

    but today i took a look, and everything is just as if there were no CSS code at all.
    and i haven´t changed not even a line of the code since 2 months ago!

    can anyone help me to figure out what´s happened and how can i make my CSS customization to work??

    thank you a lot.

    The blog I need help with is davidfernandez.org.

    is it possible the page-id changed by itself??!

    #743738

    but it didn´t… it´s still page-id-47…

    and i have:

    ‘.page-id-47 div#secondary {
    display:none;
    }

    .page-id-47 #access {
    display:none;
    }’

    but those items do display. why?

    #743742

    if i click “preview” in my CSS stylesheet editor… then the preview is right. everything looks ok. as it was just two days ago. but even after saving i go directly to the page… but the changes do not apply (changes that anyway where made 2 months ago).

    so odd.

    any ideas?

    there are one or two forum volunteers who are experts on CSS.
    Just be patient. they are usually in the forums within a 24 hour period.

    Although there is only one sidebar, there are two widget areas in that sidebar, primary and secondary. Right now you have widgets in both the primary and the secondary it appears. The widgets in secondary are hidden on that page, but the widgets you have in primary are not. Did you want the widgets in primary and secondary both hidden?

    The menu that I see on page id 47 is NOT the #access menu. It is something that is coded directly into the page contenf of page id 47.

    I don’t see any page title or anything like that on that page either.

    hello and thanks for your answer,

    it seems you watch the page correctly. with secondary widgets hidden (primary i want them there), only one menu (which is not a real menu, but one i´ve made my self), and no space between the header and the top of the page.

    but in my computer everything is a mess (and i´ve tryed with safary, firefox and chrome).
    CSS just doesn´t hide anything. but it´s very odd, as on the rest of the pages of my blog:

    http://davidfernandez.org

    it works perfectly.

    here i´ve uploaded a picture of how it displays on my computer

    http://davidfernandez.org/csswrong/

    CSS it´s been working for a long time, with no problem, and suddenly it just doesn´t. but i didn´t add not even a single new line…

    you (thesacredpath) even helped me to do it, and it worked ok:

    https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/hide-or-change-color-menu-bar-twenty-ten-theme?replies=15

    so what’s wrong now??

    i am very frightened.

    thanks a lot,

    david

    hi again, i am very desperate, i’ve tried lots of things, but none work. why this lines in my CSS stylesheet:

    .author {
    display:none;
    }

    .entry-title {
    display:none;
    }

    work only in the main page, and not in the rest of the pages (but it worked ok during one year)?

    what can be the reason for which suddenly my CSS upgrade only works for the main page of my blog, but not for the other 20 pages i have?

    thank your for helping me, thank you.

    #743862

    I don’t see “author” anywhere on your site, and I do not see page titles on any of the pages accessible from the top navigation on your main page.

    #743868

    i don’t understand… from my computer, using safary, chrome or firefox i see author, page titles… the standart “twenty ten theme” with no effect at all of my CSS (except in the main page).

    here is a picture of how it looks like!:

    http://davidfernandez.org/csswrong/

    is it an hallucination of my computer? ok, today i will check it out from other computers… but this is becoming me crazy.

    thanks for the answer.

    #743870

    for example, in this page:

    http://www.en.davidfernandez.org/ecce-cello

    there shouldn’t be any space between the header picture and the top of the browser, no site title, no “ecce cello” title over the content, no secondary widgets… and my footer should be listed in a single line, not in five lines on the left.

    but it´s just the standard “twenty ten theme”, with no effect at all of my CSS, which has got, amongst others, these codes:

    .page-id-119 div#secondary {
    display:none;
    }

    .page-id-119 #access {
    display:none;
    }

    .author {
    display:none;
    }

    #site-title a {
    display:none;
    }

    #site-description {
    display:none;
    }

    #header h1 {
    display:none;
    }

    #header {
    padding:0;
    }

    thanks for any help… i’m very confused :(

    In Safari, Firefox and Opera on my machine I see your site with your custom CSS.

    Check and see if you get any errors on these three links. They are CSS files on three different wordpress systems.

    hi and thanks a lot for your time.
    i´ve check it out today in aother computer and it works OK. so it´s a problem of my internet connexion i think, as i use my iphone as modem (which is working on the normal phone line, not even in 3G).

    if i click those three links i can see the code listed in my browser, like this:

    body{font-size:62.5%;font-family:'Lucida Grande', Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif;background:#d5d6d7 url('images/kubrickbgcolor.jpg')

    so i apologize, as it seems to be a problem of my internet connexion… but even though it´s very odd that the CSS is visible in main page, but not in the rest.

    thank you!

    #743878

    This is your custom CSS file, try accessing it and see what happens. Again you should see CSS.

    http://s1.wp.com/?custom-css=1&csblog=YYa9&cscache=5&csrev=225

    #743881

    yes! i see CSS.

    #743890

    so, my case is very curious, isn´t it?

    if you have a very slow internet connexion, then the CSS customization just doesn´t work… i just wonder how many people out there has got a very bad internet connexion…

    #743892

    It could be that what is happening is that a timeout is occurring before your CSS can be loaded, either on the wordpress servers or possibly at your ISP. I’m not really sure where the issue is.

    One suggestion I do have, especially when thinking of people on slower internet connections is to go to settings > reading and change the number of pages to show on posts to something like perhaps 10 or even 5. Right now it appears you have it set at something like 30 and that can take a long time to load.

    #743893

    First sentence, second paragraph should be:

    One suggestion I do have, especially when thinking of people on slower internet connections is to go to settings > reading and change the number of posts to show on pages to something like perhaps 10 or even 5.

    #743894

    that’s the very odd thing. the main page is the ONLY one that was displaying correctly. all the rest were wrong.

    but…

    from one hour ago all pages are displaying ok, it seems as it came it´s gone. and i haven´t changed anything on my configuration!

    technoligy is alive. that’s my concluion. it was somekind of catarrh.

    anyway thank you a lot for your replies.
