Custom Background Images/Mistylook
I can quite easily change the background color on my blog but am having difficulty figuring out how to use an image for the background. I know Mistylook is an older theme and doesn’t have this as an easy option as many of the newer themes do but I know there is a CSS/HTML workaround.
Can someone provide me with the steps on how to do this?
The blog I need help with is notabilia.wordpress.com.
Please read this post > http://csswiz.wordpress.com/2009/10/15/if-you-have-the-wp-com-css-upgrade/
Also note that CSS is theme specific here at wordpress.com, there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, please be patient and consult tutorials found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-css/#css-help while waiting for a Volunteer to help you. :)
Thanks, timethief. This is the second blog for which I have purchased–and am playing around with–the CSS upgrade. I continue to learn and I look forward to a response to my query.
You have to add a background declaration to the body selector in the CSS. Look at this W3C schools page to learn more about the background property.
I would use the “shorthand” version which is shown about 3/4 of the way down. Also, always include a color declaration as well in the shorthand version because if something were to happen and your image were not to load, you would have a background color similar to your image.
Thank you, thesacredpath. Will try this right away!
Thank you! Thank you! It’s perfect.
