I am obviously over my head with this!!!! I thought that by buying the CSS upgrade that I would be able to download a WP theme off the internet and install it for my blog by just copying the CSS and pasting it in the Edit CSS part – but I can’t get it to work for me. And now that I have messed around with it, when I try to change my theme back to what I was using (Rounded) I have lost the flowers that are suppose to go across the top, now just have a plain brown background. tsk, tsk on me to start messing around with something I know nothing about (I was able to do it on blogger and assumed it would be the same here) but does anyone have any advice on what I should do? At thins point I would be happy with just getting my old theme back!!!!
Note that those wordpress themes are for the version at http://wordpress.org When you see ‘wordpress’ elsewhere on the net, that’s usually the one that they’re talking about. If someone is talking about sites or options here at wordpress.com, they’ll usually specifically say so by name.
To get back to the beginning, visit the css editor (Dashboard -> Presentation -> Edit CSS), empty out the editor window, choose the option ‘Add to existing CSS’ and click on the ‘Save Stylesheet’ button. You may have to clear out your browser’s file cache but that should return your blog to the original state.
When you get back there, please state specifically as to where you’re having an issue. CSS is the same at all places on the net and it should be the same as to what you dealt with over at blogger.
The only difference that you may be running into is here at wp.com you have to option to only make slight changes and to use the CSS that already exists with your theme. That’s the ‘Add to existing CSS’ option. You can also just use your own CSS that you put into the editor. That’s the ‘Start from scratch and just use this’ option.
Hope this helps,
Thanks so much, I was able to get back to my original theme!!!! Appreciate the help.
Not a problem. :)
