The only themes we can use are those found here > Appearance > Themes
This is a multiuser blogging platform. All blogs wearing the same theme are using the same underlying template and we cannot access the underlying files and edit templates or themes.
If you have CSS editing experience the upgrade will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but will not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. It does not allow you to remove footer links to the theme designer or to WordPress.com. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes at WordPress.COM. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/
Hmm – thank you for the thorough and quick response!
The thing is, it is the changes on/through the dashboard that are not uploading.
What exactly are you trying to do?
Have you purchased the custom design upgrade?
Is this a CSS editing question?
I am just trying to get the info we have entered on the dashboard to show up on my page.
What info did you enter into the dashboard and exactly where did you enter it please?
I have been here for 6 1/2 years and I know how to blog on this software. Sadly, you aren’t providing enough detail so I can provide helpful answers.
Did you purchase a custom design upgrade?
Yes or No?
Are yopur referring to CSS editing?
Yes or No?
Here’s the link to the tutorial prepared by Staff. htt://learnwordpress.com It’s a step by step one that you can follow to set up your blog.
I am so sorry if my lack of even knowing what is going on is frustrating… and I am super grateful for your help!!
I just started today trying to configure my page, chose a theme that did not require an upgrade (girl in green), and have started to enter content on the dashboard. I can see the things on the dashboard, but when I hit “view” I get the following error message: “invalid activation key.”
So, none of what is entered on my dashboard is showing up on my page.
Does this clarify?
Aha! This has nothing to do with what you are doing. There’s a wide-spread technical “invalid activation key” issue evidenced by the multiple active threads on the front page of this forum all reporting the same issue. All have been flagged for Staff attention. I suggest takeing a break for a few housrs and returning. Hopefully, Staff will have fixed this by then.
Where on dashboard: pages.
Thank you for providing that “invalid activation key” phrase. :)
Right – note to self: “be that kind of specific in the future” :)
Sorry for the trouble!
We identified and corrected the issue. The affected blogs are each being fixed individually.
If yours has not been fixed yet, it should be in a few hours.
