Dailymotion embeds are no longer displaying
Hello! As of this past week, all of our Dailymotion embeds only display empty space (of the correct size). It’s affected both newly added videos and all of the embedded videos in our archives.
I Googled around a bit, and I couldn’t find any changes to either WP.com or DM that would have caused this, so I’m a bit puzzled. I’ve tried all of the different syntax for DM embedding (/embed link, full link, [dailymotion] tag), too. Any ideas?
The blog I need help with is customscreatorscollective.wordpress.com.
Oh, and the videos are not marked private or otherwise inaccessible on Dailymotion, by the way. Nothing has changed on our end.
I’ve noticed this effect periodically on my sites many times over the past couple of years. The issue always mysteriously resolves itself after a short time, minutes usually. I haven’t discovered the cause.
I have the same problem, I use chrome and the videos don’t appear, I tried in IE and Firefox and the videos are only visible on firefox :c
It happens on Firefox too. I nearly always use the latest version of FF.
I discovered that, on chrome, where is the URL there is a little icon of a shield, I clicked on it and appears the option to show the dangerous (or something like that) content, when I click it the page reloads and it shows the videos. The problem is that I don’t know if my visitors see the blank spaces or the videos, and also it keeps blocking the videos and I have to click the shield again and again. Anyways, I don’t understand why the videos are being blocked, that never happened to me before :/
I think that’s the problem because, now that I tried on my tablet, the videos display, I can see the videos of your blog pksage, and the ones in mine display just normal.
I don’t know if my visitors see the blank spaces or the videos
That’s my worry too, because they come and go sometimes. I seldom use Chrome, but mine doesn’t have a shield in the navigation bar. That may be part of your security system.
I mean your internet security software
You are right. Also, the videos displayed on my tablet because I was using safari, I downloaded the chrome app and the videos are blocked again and the shield icon doesn’t appear :/
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. This is almost certainly something to do with our transition to providing all of our sites in HTTPS. I have put this in front of our developers, and as soon as I have any additional information for you I will let you know.
Same problem here
Here it is the error :
Mixed Content: The page at ‘https://xxx.wordpress.com/?p=1428&preview=true’ was loaded over HTTPS, but requested an insecure resource ‘http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/x8oma9’. This request has been blocked; the content must be served over HTTPS.
One more here (thread from spanish forum):
Cheers, Ash :)
Thanks for looking into this, amightywp.
I found that the video embeds for Blip.TV are also not working and am guessing it is because of the https.
Videos from Youtube and Vimeo are working whether they are embedded with http, or https. Very thankful for that as most of the videos on my blog are from Youtube or Vimeo.
Thanks everyone! Our developers are looking into it. :)
@dandelionsalad – Can you give me a link to a post with a broken Blip.TV embed so I can take a look?
Thanks again for working on fixing this issue.
Thanks dandelionsalad. :) I’ve reported Blip.TV embeds to the developers as well. I’ll let you know when I hear back.
Thank you very much, Shawna.
