Hi I want to start over. Can you please get rid of everything I've done thus far? I need a new template. I'm a journalist who is working on her webpage. Do you have any suggestions with what template I should go with? This template I designed is not appropriate for me.

The blog I need help with is marinatsite.wordpress.com.

  2. If you want to retain the blog URL (note that no deleted URL can be registered again). https://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/ and you are willing to wait rather than doing this yourself http://en.support.wordpress.com/empty-site/ then Staff can empty the whole blog for you. That will remove all data including posts, pages, tags, categories, comments, and uploaded files and once deleted, the data cannot be recovered.

If you are sure you want Staff to proceed, and you are prepared to wait in the queue for that to happen then you type modlook into the tags in the sidebar of this thread for Staff attention and post again into this thread to:

    (1) confirm the URL of the blog you want them to empty;
    (2) confirm that you know content deletion is irreversible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Deleting blog content does not remove it from the SERPs (search engine page results). Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 - 6 months. To completely remove an entire page from Google search results after it produces a 404 (page not found):

  3. re: theme selection

You can use feature filters to narrow your choices down. See here: https://theme.wordpress.com/ and click the "Find a theme button".

To switch themes see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes

Hi thank you for your response. I would like to keep my website. I ran into a technical issue yesterday but I was able to correct it. Also, if I were to change the "style/template" of my page and make another selection, would all the existing work that I've done transfer into the new chosen template, or would I need to start over?

  6. Please read this https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes and know that no content is ever lost when changing themes.

    re: changing themes
Themes are just "skins" on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.

Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the "activate" or the "preview" link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.

The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.

For changing themes see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/#switch-themes

Every theme has detailed theme description page with set up instructions like this one https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sapor/ and a live demo site like this one http://sapordemo.wordpress.com/

Know that a blog is a website.

A blog is a post based website designed for interactive communication. As the posts are frequently updated and appear on the front page of the site it's very attractive to search engines.

What most people call a website is merely a page based site that functions as a one way noticeboard. As the structure is page based and as pages are for static content that rarely changes, and as pages do not have RSS feeds, and as others do not backlink to pages, it is not as attractive to search engines as a post based blog structured site is.

Any WordPress blog can be restructured from being post based to being page based - no upgrade required. For greater clarity read > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/
