Delete all comments ?
I used wordpress for posting to fora and web sites.
I want now to start a blog as an author and want to start fress, and delete all previous comments + replies.
How do I do this ?
The blog I need help with is saoir.wordpress.com.
You can ask the owners of sites where you have commented to delete your comments. Unfortunately, once you comment on someone else’s site, the comment “belongs” to that blog / site and you cannot delete it.
You cannot delete comments you have already made. You can create a brand new account using a different email if you want.
You can only delete comments (yours or those made my others) on your own site. If you are seeking to be anonymous, then change your username.
MY MISTAKE …..
I want to delete them from my account… so they don’t show up anywhere any more :-) Site owners can keep them … that’s fine.
Sorry for mis-wording myself.
Sorry, but I could be having a “brain freeze” moment here, but your account appears to be empty: http://saoir.wordpress.com/
Welcome to WordPress.com. This is your first post. Edit or delete it and start blogging!
Are you asking about “recent activities?”
Sorry: not your account, but your public site—that is what is empty, the parts that the public can see. Only you see the link I showed you.
Ok … I get that only I can see it. That is good. Is there any way I can clear it of those comments ?
Saoir: The blog is empty because I never set up a blog. I only used the account to post to forums and newspapers for the last few years.
I seem to have an account howardbrittain also. I want to start THIS into a clean blog as the author of my first book. But when I try to manage it, or get into it, it keeps telling me I must go into saoir. But I don’t see the howardbrittain blog in the saoir account. Only the saoir blog which is empty.
If I am confusing you I apologise …. I am utterly confused :( and I am very tech literate … though it may not seem so.
Thanks for the help btw.
Okay. Did you start your other site with a different email address?
WordPress.com keeps track of who is who with the email addresses they were registered with.
I believe it is the same one.
Note the following.
I just visited that address “http://howardbrittain.wordpress.com/” and it shows me as signed in as ‘saoir’. When I click on the name beside the avatar pull down it sends me into ‘saoir’ account.
BUT when I click on ‘site admin’ in the right hand bar in a section called “META” it says below:
User saoir Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested
You are logged in as “saoir” and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for “howardbrittain”. If you are not “saoir”, please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are “saoir” and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.
If you reached this screen by accident and meant to visit one your own sites, here are some shortcuts to help you find your way.
If you used the same email addy, then this should get you to the other blog:
Rats! typing at the same time!
Did you sign up for that account yourself? Are you the administrator?
Whatever you do right now, do NOT delete anything!!!
ok. I can post a screen shot of where it sends me on that warning page. It sends me to the My Blogs part of the Dashboard. But it won’t let me “Register another blog”
Okay. Post the screenshot. But if you already own the url, then it should be on your list. The pic would be useful.
I think it must be mine … as it says “log out” in the right hand border of the http://howardbrittain.wordpress.com/ web page ….
Again, typing at the same time. I looks like http://howardbrittain.wordpress.com/
is registered with another email address.
Can you recall using a different email address in the past?
Always possible, and I can try to retrieve a pass word if I could get to the right page.
Note my point above “I think it must be mine … as it says “log out” in the right hand border of the http://howardbrittain.wordpress.com/ web page …. “
Yet when I click on site admin it won’t let me in. These things confuse me.
1tess !! I got in !
