Anyone know how I can modify this theme in CSS so the generic phrase “Just Another WordPress.com Weblog” doesn’t appear right under my blog title? I’ve fiddled with the coding but can’t seem to remove it.

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is inmetanoia.wordpress.com.

We need a link to the blog, but it doesn’t require the CSS upgrade to remove that. Go to settings > general and delete the text in the “tagline” box and then click “save changes.”

    Hello,
If you remove the ‘Blog Tagline’ – and the ‘Blog Title’ in the Settings Page: does that adversely affect the Blog’s visibility/SEO?

I’d like to remove both. Thanks,
    John

Yes it does. In some themes you can “hide” the header text (make it invisible) though which does not cause SEO problems. Since you did not include a link to your blog, we cannot tell what theme you are using.

Always include a link to your blog when asking a question in the forums since most times we have to take a look in order to be able to help.

    Hello there,
It looks terrble at the moment: http://starwarsage9.wordpress.com

I’m using Kubrick at the mo’. I looked at some others and didn’t see an option to customise that without paying for custom CSS/CSS access. That facility makes it simple.

Having said that, if I did set those items to display:none; or visibility:hidden; in the CSS, I suspect they might not get picked up by the search or ranking system either.

If only I could get my override styles into the pages via a text/html widget…

Nope, they will still be picked up. Those properties are just for styling/display purposes. Since you’re not taking the text out of the HTML, the crawlers will still read them.

Unfortunately you can’t you do need the CSS upgrade for that.
