Deleting a blog

  1. Not a problem, more of a question.

If I delete the blog mentioned in the URL, does that mean that only my username can never have that URL in the future, or does that means the blog name "readingthebill" can never be used by anyone, period?

The blog I need help with is

  2. or does that means the blog name "readingthebill" can never be used by anyone, period?

That's exactly what it means. No one not you or anyone else can register any deleted blog URL.

  3. timethief, thanks for the link.

Is there a limit to how many times I can change a blog's name? I don't recall seeing such a limit in the support forums. If not, I may just change it to something else.

  4. I'm sorry but I don't know that answer to that question. That's probably because I my blogs are well established and have respectable page ranks and are on their own domains. Settings that aside, if I had a brand new blog that had no indexed content appearing in search engine page results I might change blog address. However, if it did have a blog with indexed content and a pagerank then I would be more like to walk over hot coals than to change a blog address and break all the links to my content. That is to say I would not do so not without purchasing a site redirect!

  5. I tagged this thread for a Staff reponse to your question. If your subscribe to the thread you will be notified when they respond.

  6. I started to move a blog from one username to another. Apparently, posts, pages, and categories are moved, in addition to comments, but viewing stats and 'likes', aren't.

  7. When you say 'move" do you mean export and import? The stats and likes are not exportable.

  8. Yes, I did mean export/import. Thanks for the information. I will await the staff answer to the question you tagged.

  9. Hi patriotne,

There isn't a limit to how many times you can change your blog address:

The link above will show you the proper steps. I recommend not doing this too many times, because it does create and discard blog URLs, and these are not recyclable.

You can change your site title as much as you like without any bad effects, and you can also purchase a custom domain name:

    Now, stats.

Your stats are directly tied to your blog ID. If you export your blog information and import it into a new blog, that blog has a new ID from your old blog, and your stats reset.

    I hope that helps!

  10. What happens with the likes please?

  11. Zandy, that does help. Thank you!

  12. TT - I'm not sure - I'll check!

  13. Thanks

  14. @Timethief,

They do not export and import with the content. Sorry for the inconvenience!
