Description/terminology of images confusing, plus enable xml-rpc problem

  1. Hi WordPress:
On the upload Blog Picture | Icon page ( you get the impression that the terminology used ("Blog Picture | Icon") means that at this spot (top-right corner of page) you can upload a picture that can be used across your WordPress site: a main header image (like the nice landscape/horizontal image you get on your main page: This is what I want to do. However when WordPress engages Windows Explorer and you upload an image, the resulting page then calls the image an "Avatar". Two WordPress pages with the image in question being described with totally different sets of terminology. So, is the image to be uploaded a "Blog Picture | Icon" OR an "Avatar"?

How can I upload a main (and very horizontal) image that will show on all my WordPress pages?

Further, I cannot find the setting where I can enable enable xml-rpc.

    Thank you,
    Murray Thompson

  2. i think it is apperance / header you are looking for.

  3. You are looking to upload a Custom Header.

What you are describing is the Blavatar (i.e. favicon) which appears in the address bar of some web browsers.

XML-RPC is enabled on all sites. You do not need to do anything to enable it.
