Determining Line Break of a Two-Line Headline

  1. On rare occasions, one of my blog post headlines will go to two lines. WordPress determines the break for me and it's never how I'd like to see it. Can you allow US to determine the position of a two line headline please, as WE'D like to see it? Thanks.

The blog I need help with is

  2. Hello there,
I see you are using the Vigilance theme. Are your aware that we cannot edit templates and themes on free hosted blogs? Also note that the shorter a blog post headline is and the more relevant the keywords in it are when it comes to reflecting the content in the blog post the better it is for SEO (search engine optimization) purposes.

  3. I agree that this would be nice, but the problem is, "we" can't really control it since visitor browser settings will have an effect as well. If someone has their zoom level set higher, your carefully crafted two line heading may go to three lines, and you could end up with a single word on the third line (orphan).

WordPress automatically puts a non-breaking space between the last two words in post and page titles, and the last two words of sentences and paragraphs as well, to keep from ending up with one word orphaned on a line.

  4. I should also mention that even if a zoom level is set at zero on two browsers, because of differences in rendering of text, one browser may end up breaking a title at different places. I've seen that between Safari and Firefox on my Mac many times. I've also seen this on occasions on the same browser/browser version on different operating systems. FF on Mac breaks at one point and FF on Windows breaks at another.

  5. Excellent point @thescaredpath. I hadn't thought of it that way. It's rare I use two lines because the shorter title is the most effective but.....

  6. Hey, I made you the SCARED path and not the SACRED path. sorry!

  7. Yeah, the web is kind of difficult to control because there are things that are not in our control.

Still, it would be nice to be able to insert a break tag into a title.

  8. Not a problem.
