Did I just lose 329 followers in the transfer from WP.com to WP.org??

*I posted this below under “Moving my subscribers from WordPress.com to WordPress.org,” but am posting it again here because I am concerned it might not be read under that title.

Kardotim, a happiness engineer, moved my subscribers from WordPress.org to WordPress.com.
On my WordPress.com site I had 358 followers.
Now I see on my WordPress.org site, I have 29 subscribers.

Are followers the same as subscribers?
If so, what happened to the other 329 people??
How did 358 translate into 29 people??

    Thank you!

The blog I need help with is memyselfandkids.wordpress.com.

I have flagged this for the staff to help you

There is a difference between people who follow in the Reader, which is non-transferable, and people who subscribe via email, which is transferable.

Thank you very much for your reply.
But…have I then lost the followers in my original WordPress.com blog?
Is there any way of getting them back?
(I wanted to tell them that I had changed blogs…)

If the original blog is still active you can make a new Post with the “I have moved….. and a link to the new blog” and publish it and it will go out to all of your followers (including any that are using their own RSS feed readers) that you have moved –

You can also Post a few Posts with a one sentence description of a Post on your new site with a link to the new site

Please don’t open multiple threads. I’ll reply in:

    Thank you for your patience.
