I am using Ryu theme for my site. I would like to have a different header image for each of my pages – what am i doing wrong? I don’t mind if they are set or random, I just want the variety.
    Many thanks

The blog I need help with is charlessaumarezsmith.wordpress.com.

    Hello there,
Not every themes has this feature.
Featured Images will appear above the standard post on all views and the maximum width is 1272px.

Note: This feature only works with themes that allow custom header images and that have featured header images enabled. http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#featured-header-images

So basically i can only have the 1 set image with Ryu? I don’t mind the size I just want it to be a different image on each page…

But it does list as flexible in the table… so I can with this theme?

Please follow the instructions here http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image
If you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options. http://en.support.wordpress.com/screen-options

ok but this isnt really want i needed. this just adds another image below the menu. I wanted to change the header image so that it unique for each page… ?

Then you will have to change themes to one that displays what you want where you want it to display. http://wordpress.com/themes/

Featured Images will appear above the standard post on all views and the maximum width is 1272px. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/ryu/

hm. thats a shame i really like this theme. is there anyone I could write to / pay to upgrade the theme…?

Here at WordPress.com which is a multiuser platform all blogs wearing the same theme are using the same underlying template and only Staff can access and edit it, as every edit they make affects all blogs wearing the same theme. Custom design upgrades for CSS editing allow one to change appearance only – not the way any theme is designed to function.

Does the Custom Design upgrade let me edit HTML?
No. The Custom Design upgrade allows you to edit fonts, colors, and CSS only. You can change the appearance of a theme, but not its HTML markup or PHP code. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

To get a definitive answer as to whether or not CSS editing could change this you can post to the CSS Forum please by using this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform

@MB: The header image on Ryu is the small image that shows above the blog title. You cannot set different header images for different pages if you don’t have the upgrade, but you certainly can have a random display of different images. You go to Appearance > Header and upload as many images as you like. Once you have uploaded at least two images, the Random option will show up.
