Display issue when using wider images

  1. I'm using Shocking Blue Green for my blog...Overall it is a great theme but one display problem I've noticed is when viewed in a smaller browser window (say less than 850 pixels?) the nav bar covers over the images.

It was a while before I had even realized this was a problem, because it looks fine in a larger browser window.

So is there a way to fix this display problem within this theme? Or are there any other available themes that will display wide images like this? (I couldn't find anything obvious...) Since I've already posted a lot of these wider images, I'd prefer to not have to resize everything.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help!

  2. This thread contains a list of all the blog themes sizes and the theme you have is among those that have the largest space 800 pixels width

  3. Thanks for the link, I just tried implementing Silver is the New Black, Rubric and WP Classic, and they all had the same basic problem...the side navigation in each of those covers the graphics as well when viewed in a smaller browser window. And there don't appear to be any themes with a left-hand menu bar that have 700 px width image capability.

Do you know if there is any way to fix this within the existing theme? If so, would it require implementing my own CSS?

  4. The short answer is you cannot "fix" this within the existing themes. The long answer is that this will answer your question on editing templates at This link may help you with determining theme features

  5. So is this display issue something that would ever be fixed or upgraded by the folks at WordPress, since it appears to happen on all themes that allow wider graphics? Or am I basically stuck with this unless someone creates a theme with left hand navigation that allows 700 px wide graphics? I'm not complaining really, since this is all being provided as a free service...and I really enjoy WordPress a lot! Just trying to get a clear understanding if issues like this are ever fixed?

    Thanks again for your help.

  6. I don't think they ever are, since it would mean a from-scratch reworking of all themes. You could suggest a new theme specifically designed for wider images; do this via the feedback button. Or get on the case of any WordPress designers you know.

  7. +1 I would like to see some wide themes as well that aren't set to 100% of the browser window.
