.dk domain mapping

Hello I have a few questions regarding domain mapping.

    1. I am trying to make a domain mapping of a .dk domain. I’ve seen on older posts that a staff member had to manually add zone records. Is this still required for the domain mapping to work?

    2. In my control panel where I can change/add name servers, I currently have 5 active name servers. ( ns1, ns2, ns3, ns4, ns5 ).
However WordPress only requires 3. Should I remove all 5, and replace with the 3?

    3. In the control panel it says “Add new primary name server”. Is it correct that the name servers I need to add from WordPress.com are primary name servers?

    Thank you :-)

The blog I need help with is colorednumbers.wordpress.com.

    Hi there,

The only DNS settings that need to be updated are in your account at your domain registrar. Ask your domain provider to point your domain’s name servers to the following:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

The following support document has step-by-step instructions for mapping your domain to your site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

    Hope this answers your question.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your answer!
I am aware of the step-by-step instruction, and I am planning on following it :-)

However before I can do so, I need answers on the 3. questions I asked above, as I have noticed there may be some special requirements for “.dk” domains.

If anybody can answer my questions, that would be great! :D

    Hi @colorednumbers,

This thread has been tagged with “modlook” which means that WordPress staff have been notified and will be able to assist you further.

Thank you for your patience as they look into your account :)

@colorednumbers If I recall correctly, your registrar would require us to add zone records before you could change your name servers to point here, so I doubt you need them.

These three name servers are fine:

    ns1.wordpress.com

    ns2.wordpress.com

    ns3.wordpress.com

I am not familiar with the “primary” name server setting, but you will need to ensure that only these three name servers are set for your domain.

@supernovia I don’t quite understand what you mean by: ” If I recall correctly, your registrar would require us to add zone records before you could change your name servers to point here, so I doubt you need them.”

Is it required for you to set up zone records?

@colorednumbers If you were able to point the domain here already you should be fine. But if you’d like, we can add zones anyway (just in case). We would need your domain to proceed.

@supernovia I think it would be a good idea to add the zone records just in case. Do you need the “.dk” domain I wish to map to or the WordPress domain? And this is not the WordPress account I want to map from, can I give you the domain from this account, or do you need to know the account where I want to do the mapping? :-)

I can’t set up the zone records unless I know what the domain is, so please let us know what the domain is and we’ll continue.

Please also be sure you’re asking from the account that will own the upgrade. Thanks!
